Alvear Palace

The Alvear Palace sparkles with its grandiloquent architecture- the cathedral-like lobby and a dining room modeled after the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles. It is one of the finest hotels in Buenos Aires. Located in the heart of the Recoleta, the most refined quarter in Buenos Aires, its imposing architecture and decoration distinguish the Alvear as one of a kind. The hotel has 80 Palace rooms and 120 suites. Completely refurbished during the last few years, the Alvear maintains its characteristic charm combined with traditional hospitality and the most advanced technology.

How the Stage was Set HISTORY IN BRIEF 1920s: A group of wealthy Argentines endeavored to create South America's finest hotel. No expense would be spared - everything from marble columns to delicate etched-glass windows would be imported from Europe. Construction cost millions and took more than a decade, but the investors achieved their goal: a place fit for kings and queens, presidents and prime ministers, as well as an instant symbol that Buenos Aires had "arrived" as one of the world's great cities. 1932: The Alvear Palace Hotel opened its doors.

The Emperor and Empress of Japan, the King and Queen of Spain, Jacques Chirac, Ted Turner, Sharon Stone, Antonio Banderas, Melanie Griffith, Arthur Miller, Kenzo and many others...
