In Brief:
The history of the building goes back to 1705 Mrs Cecilie and Olaus Andreas Myhre bought the house in 1870, and opened as a hotel in 1897.
He died early, and Mrs Myhre remarried in 1882, with Mr Claussen. This couple ran the hotel until 1912.
1910 letterThe new owner was Mr. Topp who unfortunately died the same year. Mr Scott-Isacksen bought the hotel together with his wife in 1916. There were two managers between 1916 and 1923, Mr Lorenzen and Mr. Ellewsen. Mr Stensrud buys the hotel in 1924. The hotell stays in the family until Britannia was merged with Royal Garden Hotel (today a SAS hotel) in 1984/85. This merger lasted four years.
March 1989 Mr Botten and SetsaasGroup take over the hotel. The SetsaasGroup however, sells their share to Mr Botten in 1991. Mr Botten now owns 98% of the hotel and is chairman of the board. Mr Sundal and Mr Opdahl were managers between 1991 and 1993.
1993 – 1996 Mr Haavik runs the hotel, still owned by Mr Botten, who has left the hotel after his death to his heirs.
