The list of famous hotels of Germany would be incomplete without the Breidenbacher Hof. In fact, it was - for many years the hotel was closed and what we see today is not the original hotel. Opened in 1812, it was for long considered Germany’s first grand hotel. It burnt down in 1943 after a fatal bombing of Duesseldorf. Rebuilt and for decades the grand dame of hospitality in the city, it was closed down in 1999, razed to the ground, completely rebuilt and reopened in 2008 as a luxurious hotel.
