A Request from one of The Friends of The Most Famous Hotels in the World:

I need assistance documenting the large decorative columns that graced an interior lobby of the Waldorf Hotel prior to its demise for the Empire State building. These 15' tall solid granite corinthian columns (8 sets of bases, columns and capitals) are now in my possession with only the verbal lore of where they came from. Are there any photographs of the lobby where these columns might be identifiable? They are quite impressive of Deer Island pink granite and carved sandstone capitals. Can you give me direction or assistance on this research please? Thank you Sherret E Chase Please mail: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
