This splendid hotel was founded in 1956, on the site of a small fishing village, by the Genoese aristocrat Paolo De Ferrari, after he fell in love at first sight with Biodola's fine pink-tinted sand, its deep blue, crystal-clear sea, the heart-wrenching beauty of the bay and its uncontaminated natural setting. Hermitage Isola d'Elba has been suggested a while ago by a member of the jury.
