Hermitage on Elba listed
Hermitage Isola d'Elba listed as one of The Most Famous Hotels in the World
This splendid hotel was founded in 1956, on the site of a small fishing village, by the Genoese aristocrat Paolo De Ferrari, after he fell in love at first sight with Biodola's fine pink-tinted sand, its deep blue, crystal-clear sea, the heart-wrenching beauty of the bay and its uncontaminated natural setting.
Hermitage Isola d'Elba has been suggested a while ago by a member of the jury. As the hotel opened in 1956, it reached the age of 50 this year - and we are pleased to welcome this wonderful property in the group of The Most Famus Hotels in the WorldŽ.
Situated on the island of Elba in the Mediteranean, the Hotel stands amidst the rich Mediterranean maquis, surrounded by strawberry trees, holm oaks and lentiscus, nowadays a protected area within the Tuscan Archipelago Park. Its buildings, consisting of charming little villas, directly overlook the beach, like a spacious balcony opening onto the seaside view below. The 130 rooms, all with patio or balcony framed by geraniums, bougainvilleas and a wealth of flowers, have all the comforts of a luxury hotel.
